The Kappa Delta Sisters at Georgia Southern University (GSU) were excited to help out their local branch of Prevent Child Abuse America (PCAA). Despite the rain, the members of the Kappa Delta Sorority and the Alumnae Association of Kappa Delta Sorority hosted their 27th Annual Shamrock Event “War of the Wings” for the prevention of child abuse on Thursday, April 8, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Kappa Delta House.
Several GSU students and community members attended the event. Several of the attendees attended the event just to witness first hand which local restaurant would take home the title of “Best Local Buffalo Wings.” Attendees also had the chance to participate in a raffle, games and enjoy live entertainment on the front lawn of the Kappa Delta House.
I really enjoy helping out with “War of the Wings” because it gives me the chance to use my PR skills. In the last couple of years, I have written press releases and created flyers for the event. This year I designed this flyer for “War of the Wings.”
Also, it is really neat because over eighty percent of the funds collected will remain in Statesboro’s child abuse prevention programs. The Kappa Delta sisters get the chance to present the check to PCA America on the front steps of the court house. The people are always so grateful, it makes all the hard work pay off. I wish we could give the entire 100 percent to the Stateboro branch, but the remaining 20 percent has go to the PCAA’s nationwide public awareness programs.
